McDonnell Ranges

Up very early woke about 5am. Did a load of washing before breakfast. Left park by 9am. Shopped a bit (still Alice Show). Went to visit Telegraph Station. Beautful old stone buildings well furnished for a display. Lovely area surrounding. Todd River gum trees . Visited Arakuen Art Gallery, paintings, sculptues, and a good photographic exhibition by Peter Lattz Then we went out to Hermansburg mission. Old stone buildings again on one side. Aboriginal Store on the other side. Quite a contrast. Lot of vandalism in aborigine quarter. Had tea and scones with Barry. Bought music sticks and egg. Fabienne bargained unmercifully but didn’t get what she wanted. Then on to Palm Valley. Real 4WD. Sand, river beds, and rocks. Camped about 6pm. After illegally collecting wood. Cooked steak on the fire, star gazing. Rained during the night.
